Adopt a American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)

Timmy (or Tim-Tim as I like to call him or Timothy Jr. when he misbehaves) is 5 years old & has the energy of a 2 year old. Don’t be fooled by his looks! He is a total LOVER & just wants to be with his humans. His early life was not so good to him & he has scars all over his body. BUT let’s be honest, his broken jaw has caused the cutest snaggletooth we have ever seen! He spent years chained outside & then 2 more years in a kennel until he came to his foster home in August 2017. He adapted to a loving home life very quickly & enjoys every second of it.

He has one foster fur sister, Luna (she weighs 20lbs), who he doesn’t pay much attention to BUT he will sniff her or steal bones back when she’s not looking. (She does the same to him too) He walks great with Luna & has no reaction when he sees other dogs (big or small) when out in the neighborhood. However, if he sees a squirrel, rabbit or cat he will want to chase it! Because of this, he can’t be in a home with cats. Timmy is friendly with people of all sizes but due to his strength & size (65lbs) it is recommended that he be in a household with no young children. He would be ok with children 16 years or older. Please don’t let that sway you! He has been around young kids & has NEVER had a negative reaction both at his foster home & at public events he has been to. He just doesn’t realize his own strength sometimes!

Timmy is fully housebroken. He doesn’t bark when he has to go, but he will linger by the door & that’s his way of saying “I have to go potty!”  Timmy loves to run around in the yard & he sniffs EVERYTHING! We do request that his adoptive home have a fully fenced in yard so he can run & play to his heart’s desire. He loves basking in the sun in the summer time. Timmy has never had any form of training until now & he has made HUGE progress. He still likes to mouth on you when he plays & he doesn’t realize his strength when he does this. BUT he only does this when he is bored or over stimulated. His tail wags the entire time so he thinks he is being playful with you. But throw him a bone & he will gladly take that to chew on instead. Remember, he has had NO training until now & he used to do this all the time BUT after being in his foster home, this puppy-like habit has significantly decreased. With more patience & training he is perfectly capable of getting to the point where he doesn’t do it at all. He is a very smart boy!

When Timmy is tired, he wants nothing more than to snuggle up with his humans. He is a great snuggle partner & will for sure keep you warm in the winter time. He loves belly rubs & ear scratches. He also loves to give kisses. He goes into his crate with no issues at night or when you aren’t home as long as you give him a treat. But he would most definitely prefer to be in bed with you. When he’s been a really good boy he enjoys beef marrow bones or a frozen kong filled with peanut butter. He loves his treats! This lover of a guy deserves his furever home after all he has been through.
