Dice the Dog needs a home
If you have second thoughts about adopting a stray or abandoned dog/pup, please check out our "Successful Adoptions Page" and see how many dogs we have already placed into loving homes. Be sure to check out their happy endings under "Happy Tails!"
Dice’s story is based on love/devotion/tragedy and heartbreak. Dice’s owner was a veteran and for the past two years Dice was his loyal companion. Even though she wasn’t certified, Dice was Joe’s service dog and went everywhere with him, she even wore the vest. Whenever Joe had nightmares, Dice would wake him up by gently kissing his cheek.
Shortly before she was rescued, Dice’s owner, Joe, was gunned down in front of his home with his beloved girl just a few feet away (inside the house). Two bullets went through the wall where Dice was patiently waiting for Joe to open the door so she could help him. Sadly Dice never got the chance to help Joe and he passed away before the ambulance arrived. Neighbors tell us that Dice laid next to Joe’s body and wouldn’t leave his side.
If this story isn’t tragic enough, after losing her owner, Dice also lost her home and if it wasn’t for a good friend of Joe’s and Dice, who contacted 2nd Chance, Dice would probably be sitting in the county shelter.
Dice is heartbroken and confused, we are doing everything we can to ensure her that she is safe and loved. We are looking for a loving home (preferably with a veteran who will not only love and take care of Dice, but would also benefit from a loyal companion).
Dice is approx 3 years old, housebroken, she is amazing with people but should go into a home with older children and no other animals..
If you are interested in meeting this very special girl please fill out an adoption application and we will contact you.
