Adopt a Shih Tzu (medium coat)

We are so excited to have Gerald join our rescue group so that he can find a new home! Gerald's owner no longer wanted him and kept him outdoors all the time. Gerald was matted and longed for attention. His owner gave him to the vet who then contacted us for help. He was groomed to get all the painful mats (and smell) off of him that were causing skin irritation. He was neutered, tested negative for heartworms, and given vaccines.

Gerald is one of the happiest and sweetest guys you could ever meet! He is estimated to be about seven years old - perfect age for a wonderful companion! He LOVES to be held and will rub and roll around on people with his tail always wagging. He sleeps at the foot of the bed at night and during the day he loves a comfy dog bed where he can be close and watch everything going on around him when he is not following someone around!

Gerald appears to be housebroken, he has not had any accidents in his foster home. We do not guarantee he won't have an accident, dogs need to learn the routine and rules when in a new home. We have attached a short video of him playing and bouncing around at the vet's office after he was groomed and feeling happy that he was clean and the painful mats were gone! We also have pictures of him in a laundry basket of folded clothes - his folding ability isn't very good but he still likes to try and help!

WE ARE IN ABILENE, TEXAS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR PETS, WE REQUIRE ADOPTERS MEET THE DOG TO MAKE SURE IT IS A GOOD FIT.

NOTE: We are a rescue, the dogs are in foster homes. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY THAT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC. We require an application BEFORE a potential adopter will be introduced to one of our pets. We contact vets to ensure that pets already in the adoptive home are current on vaccines, heartworm prevention and sterilized. We have gotten to know the pet and our goal is to make the best match, between pet and people. PLEASE be aware, we do not adopt out to a home that has an animal which has not been spayed or neutered.
