PRINCE HARRY the Dog needs a home

A rural rescue in Tennessee got a call about a stray dog that had been hit by a car. It's one of those calls that just gets more and more sad. He was an older dog. Probably even nine or ten years old. Strike. He was a bully type breed. Strike. His injury had happened weeks ago, without treatment, meaning amputation would likely be required. Strike. He was heartworm positive. Strike Again! But when the rescuers called in, in tears, asking for approval for the great amount of funds that would have to be spent to save the old man's life, they were so passionate about this special dog. "He's just the sweetest thing ever." They had looked into his eyes and seen his gentle soul. So, a life was saved.

Harold came to be known as Prince Harry. In a loving foster home, he won more hearts with his kind nature, gentleness and charm throughout his recovery. He got treatment for all that had ailed him. Plenty of time to relax and feel loved. Prince Harry is now ready to move to a new forever home of his own.

Yes, the leg had to be amputated. It doesn't seem to affect him or his activities now that he’s recovered from that and the heartworm treatment. He loves his soft bed on the floor. Early on he had a little trouble getting on the couch but now flies up there like it’s nothing. He loves to have someone to snuggle with. He's happy to share his bed on the floor or will gladly snuggle on the couch. If you happen to be laying on the couch, he may just lay right on top of you and give big kisses. He likes to go for a walk and sometimes even a little jog. He only needs to go out a few times a day but if his family goes out more, he’s into it. He likes to wear his coat when it's cold out. He is quite happy to hang out and be lazy or to go on an adventure with his people. He loves to ride in the car. Cuddles and belly rubs are his favorite things. He's totally house trained and is trustworthy in the house. He uses a doggie door to take himself out. He doesn't ever get into trouble.  He has used a crate but they can be a bit difficult to get in and out of, and he has graduated out of it by earning trust and not disturbing anything he shouldn't.

Prince Harry has copper, gray and faun colors on most of his body. His grizzled face shows his age though. He even has a scar under his right eye giving him a worldly look. You know he’s been out there and through the hard stuff. His hair is short and slick. He is probably a mixed breed and has a bully look. He is good on a leash and does great traveling in a car. He has to have help or a ramp to get in and out though. He loves meal time. No. He Really LOVES meal time! He will over eat if given the opportunity so we limit his portions. He is so darn excited though. Just so animated and happy. You wouldn’t think that a tail could move that fast. Once dinner is ready, he will sit for you and wait for it to be served, if you ask him to. He's quite motivated by treats and can learn quickly because he wants to please you and he also Really wants the treat.

He enjoys meeting new people and doesn't bark at strangers. He likes kids. He has been around cats but can occasionally get too excited in asking a cat to play. He barks and the cat is not amused. I’m not sure if he would hurt one or not when unsupervised. He is super calm. Nothing seems to bother him. He is feeling so much better after all his care. He gets very excited for a squeaky toy and enjoys play time or a nice relaxing evening on the couch. He'll do well with a family that isn't super active. He's had all his medical needs met and has been neutered. He's up to date on vaccinations.
