Adopt a Border Collie / Mixed (short coat)
Lindy the Dog needs a home
Meet Lindy!??
Lindy was adopted from ARWOB back in 2009 and unfortunately, her family has decided they must relinquish her back to us. Since they have a growing human family of their own and given the fact that there is tension between Lindy and their two other dogs, they made the painful decision to rehome her. They have agreed to foster Lindy until ARWOB can find her a forever loving home.
Lindy is a very loving dog! She loves running on the beach and chasing the laser pointer. She is playful, but mostly likes to maintain calm if there is chaos around her. She tends to get anxious when she hears crying children or a lot of noise. She gets along with other dogs, but tends to try to be the alpha dog. Therefore, it would be best if she were not in a home with other dominant, alpha dogs. Lindy cannot be in a home with cats, as she tends to chase after them and has a very strong prey drive when she sees cats.
Lindy is house trained, leash trained, and has had some obedience training. However, she is a very active dog and being that she is a Border Collie mix, she has a lot of energy. Lindy will require an active adopter who has a good understanding of a “working dog” that likes to “herd,” which is what Border Collies were bred to do. Her breed has the herding instinct, so she tends to follow her owners around in an attempt to “herd” them and has a bit of separation anxiety if her family is gone too long. She will need an active family that can attend to her needs and focus on training her so she doesn’t get herself into trouble. Lindy will need an adopter that can mentally and physically meet her requirements and help her overcome some of her anxiety and behavioral issues.
We are looking for a foster family who is willing to give Lindy a loving place to land while we find her a permanent home. We also over foster-to-adopt programs for those who are interested in adopting and would like to get to know the animal on a personal level. If you are interested in fostering and/or adopting this lovely girl, please fill out an online application right away. Don’t wait!
