Name: Penny Best Guess for Breed: terrier/lab mix
Best Guess for Age: born 12/3/2017 SEX: female
Approximate Weight: 10 lbs as of 1/29
Has Lived With: brothers & sisters + other dogs

Special adoption considerations: Penny is a VERY young puppy and has only two of the three required puppy shots. These puppies need to be checked on every 3-4 hours so they need to go to homes where someone is home most of the time.
Hello big world! My name is Penny. My brothers and sisters were a bit of a surprise to the nice people at Lucky Dog. Our mom, Maude, was part of a group of dogs that came from San Antonio after hurricane season. Mom looks like a terrier/lab mix and some of us look like her...but others look more like our dad, who may have been a bulldog or a Staffordshire terrier but who knows. Everyone thought that she was spayed but she was harboring a bit of a surprise. Nine surprises to be exact. So right before we arrived, momma Maude was transferred to a special puppy foster and that's where we were born. Since then we have been eating and growing and eating and growing. Now that we are weaned, we are ready to go to our forever homes.
Because we are so young, we need to go to homes where someone is home most of the time-- so if everyone at your place works full time outside the home, you won't be able to give us the attention we need. We also need to go somewhere with people who can follow a quarantine protocol to keep us safe until we get more vaccines and our immune systems get stronger. And once we get past that phase, we will want to go to school and on lots of long walks and to the dog park so we can make friends. We are going to grow up to be energetic and probably pretty athletic.
Penny is not old enough to have had all of her vaccines. It will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, he is at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. As a two-shot puppy, Penny will need to be quarantined (NO walks other than in a fence yard) until she has completed her shot series in mid-February.
Due to her young age, Penny has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 6/3/2018.
Like most puppies, Penny will need to work on her housetraining. Penny will also need to go to obedience school so she can grow into a well-socialized dog!
The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Megan at [email protected]!
