Adopt a Domestic Short Hair / Tortoiseshell / Mixed (short coat)

Helena is a beautiful black and orange tortoiseshell kitten with golden eyes and a cute orange splotch on her head. She is a unique combination of shy, skittish, smart, and spunky. She loves to play with her brothers and sisters, and her favorite interactive human toy is the "bird toy," which is nothing more than a stick with a string and feather attached. Ahh, simple pleasures!



Despite being shy, Helena readily purrs when you pet her, and enjoys having her shoulder blades scratched. She needs a companion animal and would do best being adopted with any of her siblings (Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander, and Snug). Her ideal forever home could also include older children (or considerate young ones) and lots of opportunities for affection.



Helena and her siblings were rescued from the streets by a kind family who ended up with an overabundance of cats and kittens. The family contacted Viva Los Gatos in hopes of getting some help finding homes for several litters of kittens born this year. All the kittens arrived with runny eyes and noses, and are receiving regular care to clear this condition that is common in stray kitties.



Helena will be available for adoption in early November. By that time, she will be spayed and current on vaccinations. Helena has tested negative for both FIV (Feline AIDS) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia), and been dewormed and treated for fleas. Helena is particular about her food and prefers Gerber's baby food to canned cat food, although she will eat dry cat food. Consider sharing your love with this quiet little sweetie and one of her siblings. Dark kitties are notoriously hard to photograph but trust us... there’s a loving, playful kitty inside!
