Esperanza is an absolute sweetheart!
Her name means "hope" in Spanish and she's full of hope that she'll soon be in her forever home with her forever people. Esperanza appears to be a Labrador Retriever mix about 8 months old. She's currently in a kennel situation so she will most likely need to be house trained, though she does keep her crate clean. She is working on her leash walking and will need some help in learning not to zig-zag. Sometimes she pulls because she's so eager to go and introduce herself to everyone who crosses her path. She's fine with other dogs and loves to play chase. Her whole body wags from happiness when she meets any new person or dog. She is able to be redirected when coming across kitties or other small animals. She's very playful, and loves squeaky toys and going for walks. She's also just as happy to chill on a lap at times and will settle in nicely after an activity. She does sometimes get excited and jump on people, but she is mostly gentle. She responds to corrections better than any of the other puppies in her play group because she's just so sweet and eager to please. She can be a bit timid in new places, but acclimates quickly. She's smart and goofy, affectionate and even-tempered. Though a fenced yard is the safest place for your puppy to romp and play, if that's not an option then daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park will do just fine. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation - think puzzle toys, busy feeders and games. We recommend that all our dogs attend obedience training. It's a great way to help build your pup's confidence, get in some socialization with new dogs and people, and helps strengthen the bond between pup and human. And it's great fun!
Esperanza was rescued by some young boys after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs and despite having been bullied, she's eager to meet everyone. You couldn't ask for a sweeter soul! So go ahead and fill out an application today. Esperanza is waiting just for you!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
