Border Collie / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Wiley the Dog needs a home

Affectionate and playful small collie.

I am a hurricane survivor looking for a home. I was rescued from the shelter just a few days after Harvey hit Houston. I was SO thin, my hip bones were sticking out. After many extra meals, my foxy face, fluffy tail, and soft coat make me just about the cutest dog in the world!

I am playful, curious, calm, and easy-going. I am friendly to everyone I meet. I'm good with kids. I'm done growing bigger, but I'm still a puppy and will be best playing with children age five or older. My little puppy nips are not severe, and I've never broken any skin. When playing, I just forget sometimes not to put my teeth on my humans' hands. I'm smart and highly trainable and am learning fast.  I don't climb on furniture, because my foster family trained me not to do that. I walk well on a leash, and I'm great riding in a car.  I know "sit", "come", "down", and "outside". I'm learning "wait", "stay" and "bone".

Want to play? I'm always up for tug-of-war, chasing a ball, or going for walks or a run. My host family's dog --who is twice my size-- plays rough with me, but I LOVE it! He knocks me down, and I bounce right up for more! I'm content to hang outside, though I really need a human or dog buddy with me, because I'm a social butterfly! I rarely ever bark. I'm easy, as long as I get some good playtime, daily exercise and affection. When you're in a chair, I'll lay nearby. I love to come and snuggle on your lap. I only lived with a cat for one week, and I wanted to play with it, but the cat didn't want to play with me. If your cat is playful, we might just become best buds.

I'm house-trained and crate-trained. I have no trouble holding it all night in my crate. Take me home with you for a trial sleepover! You'll see I will make a very fun addition to your pack!!  To apply to adopt, or to simply request a sleepover, please complete an adoption application at www.soca-fbc.org/adoptables
.
Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt an animal from SOCA. No fee is required until a decision to adopt has been made, both you and SOCA have agreed that there is a good match, and your application has been approved.
