Adopt a Beagle / Mixed (short coat)
Buttermilk the Dog needs a home
Imagine being with your family for 15 years. Then all of a sudden your
family is gone and you are surrounded by new people in a strange place.
Those people tell you that everything is going to be ok but you wonder why
they are crying. You lick their tears. They are curious about the padlock
around your neck. But they work to cut it off and remove it. And you are
not sure. How will they know your favorite things or things you do not
like? How will they know your favorite food? And do they know what
happened to your family?
This is Buttermilk's story. She came to us from a facility in Roanoke and
she was so sad and confused a couple of weeks ago. The only time she perked
up was when she said a group of children, and boy did that put a wiggle in
her waggle. She loved visiting with them.
Fast forward to today, she is in a foster home and starting to feel a little
better. Her foster mom reports, " She's a laid back girl and no messes in
house! She is great with other dogs. Follows me everywhere. Eyeballs the
cats... barks at them but no physical interaction so far. I scold her and is
doing better with that. Buttermilk is a great dog and she sleeps on big bed
with other dogs."
All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to FCHS, which is a NO kill facility. The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals.
Please visit our website under adoptable pets for a range of adoptions fees. All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (dogs) and placed on preventative, microchipped, and more.
You can find our adoption application at
http://plannedpethoodrockymount.com/adoption.html.
Applications or questions can be emailed to [email protected]. Please email for faster response or come on by during our business hours. Please do not call, this may cause delay because we receive a high volume of calls each day and operate with a small staff. Please submit your application once you see a pet you are interested in. Adoption Center hours are Tuesday - Friday 12-6 and Saturday 11-4.
