Sparrow the Dog needs a home

In early December, two of our vet techs saw a skinny and scared dog abandoned in one of our play yards at the SPCA of Texas' Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. Her name is now Sparrow. She was very fearful, and wouldn't let us approach her at first. Then the ladies had an idea to take one of our vans near the yard, leaving the van doors open, hoping that maybe she would jump in. Without hesitating, Sparrow jumped right in! After getting Sparrow inside, she received a medical examination by our vet team. We learned that she has stage 1 heartworm disease and only weighed 38-pounds, well under a healthy weight. After receiving medical care and lots of love from staff and volunteers, Sparrow is ready to find her forever home! If you were to visit Sparrow today, you wouldn't think she was the same dog - she now army crawls to you and will roll over for belly rubs. She LOVES people and no longer shuts down if you try to approach her, she instead will come to you for pets! We are so happy to be a part of Sparrow's heartwarming transformation!
