Duke the Dog needs a home
Duke is about 3 1/2 years old and weighs just over 12 pounds. He is a black and tan Shih Tzu mix who's owner has become ill and can no longer care for him.
Duke is a very sweet dog. Not the type who will be in your face looking for kisses, but will love hanging out with his family whether that be indoors or outside. He loves walking on the leash and gets very excited when the leash is shown to him. His former owner started him with basic training, but did not finish the classes. He has been a house dog and is now crate trained as well. He is not super playful, but does enjoy rope toys.
Duke does wonderful with other dogs. He currently lives with dogs that are both larger than him and a couple that are smaller than he is. He is very social with them all.
He does have an allergy to some foods, so it is important that he stay on a grain free diet. His coat is a bit patchy right now, but his skin and coat are doing much better as time passes. He is non shedding and will need regular grooming appointments and the proper shampoo products to keep his coat tidy and in good condition. He also takes daily drops in one eye for dry eye.
Duke has been around children although we do not know the ages. It is reported that he was very good with them.
The only cat that we know he was exposed to scratched his face. So if there is a cat in the home, plan to socialize them properly until they are comfortable with each other.
This little guy has been a joy to foster. Very easy go with the flow personality. He is sure to bring a lot of joy to his new forever family!
