Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

Ellie is an affectionate, outgoing people lover with a smile to die for! She and her sister came to APA pretty confused and timid, but it didn't take this little love bug long to open up and show the world just how friendly she is! Highly affectionate is an understatement with this sweet girl. She loves cuddling with her people, and getting pets. She's adorably happy and wiggly with joy, and is incredibly generous with her kisses. The APA volunteers rave about her vivacious happy tail wag that she'll get when she sees a friend approaching. It's absolutely precious! Ellie is very sweet-natured, and enjoys her canine play groups, and also likes kids. She knows to sit for treats, and is awesome on her easy walk harness. She is a big fan of going for walks and jogs, but is equally as thrilled to lounge with her people around the house. Ellie enjoys learning new things and is in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Ellie as a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! She is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," as well as 'place' (running-to and staying-in a designated spot) and coming when called. Once Ellie successfully completes all the skills on her training plan she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Ellie is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Ellie after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together.
