Adopt a Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

This fun and silly little kitten may have already used up 1 of her 9 lives...she is hoping to spend the next 8 with you!

Pixie (formerly Hona Lee) was found as a stray in NJ as a young kitten with a tail injury and taken to a local shelter.  You can imagine their surprise when a few days later part of her tail fell off!  The rest was getting infected and irritated, despite the care and medication from the staff, and she became at risk of euthanasia for medical reasons.  One look at her pathetic little face, and a plea from the shelter on how sweet she was, and The Cat Shack could not leave this pathetic little kitten behind.  We were told she has a big personality and they were not kidding!

Pixie came into her foster home and immediately figured out how to escape the crate she was supposed to stay safe in so she wouldn't injure her tail any further before seeing the vet.  She also gave a good hiss and growl to the 100 lb dog who lives there, and immediately joined in a game of tag with the other foster kittens in the home.  

The vet determined her tail was too damaged and infected and it needed to be further amputated. If you met her the day after surgery you would not have any idea this little thing just had major surgery.  She now occupies her time by playing with other cats' tails, wrestling with her kitten friends, begging for food, and generally being a worry free kitten.  When she gets tired at night she steals her foster mom, or dad's, pillow and purrs herself to sleep.  

Pixie would love to be adopted with one of her foster brothers or sisters, or to a home with another playful cat who won't take offense when she smacks them in the head over canned food (its where she draws the line on sharing).  Although she still hisses at the dog in her foster home she is becoming much more comfortable with him and would be fine with a cat friendly dog, with a slow introduction.  

She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and Felv/FIV negative.
