I Survived Hurricane Maria!
Skittles weighs about 10 lbs and was born about November 7, 2016. He is a Hurricane Maria survivor, found wandering, looking lost, in a plaza in Salinas, PR. He was rescued and went to the vet and passed everything with flying colors. He was most likely flea infested because he was covered with little bite marks. They have healed but he does have some bald spots where his fur is growing back. His coat is super short and he'd love his own dresser drawer filled with sweaters. He shivers a lot! Perhaps not used to our frigid temps yet. He will need a dog coat or warm sweater please! He gets along with cats, kids and dogs of all sizes. He is playful, and very affectionate. He is pretty quiet, but will bark if there is a reason to bark. He will find pee pads in his foster home but his new family should be prepared to get him fully house trained or he could be one of those tiny dogs that would like a pee pad handy throughout life. He is very affectionate and will cuddle right in with you once he’s done playing with his toys and maybe moving one of your shoes over to his dog bed. He’s an all around super dog and will be a great addition to most any family, big or small. The last photo is of Skittles with his foster fur family - Great job Jeanne!

Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
