Adopt a Shih Tzu / Mixed (long coat)

Chewie is approximately 4 years old and 14 lbs.  He is a shih tzu mix, neutered and microchipped as well as current on all vaccinations. He receives frequent baths and grooming and does well at the groomer.  He is susceptible to ear infections if water gets into his ears and they are not dried properly but overall is very healthy!  He was found roaming the streets of Nashville, TN severely matted and malnourished.  He has been in foster home for one year and the family was going to keep him but have decided that their busy schedules and coming and going does give him the needed attention he deserves. With love for him they are offering him to another qualified person or family through Critter Cavalry Rescue.  He has a wonderful disposition! He does well with cats….he loves to be near them but does so in a loving and playful manner without hurting.  We have a cat and they get along very well!  Chewie also gets along very well with other dogs and children and allows either to take his food when eating.   He is leash trained but will run away and explore if not on a leash! So he must be leashed or in a fenced-in backyard. Chewie loves car rides and does well going on family outings, errands or picking the children up from school!  He will sit by the door when he needs to go outside or he will use a pee/poo pad if one is left out.  He does not have accidents in the house unless it’s been several hours since taken outside.  He has times of day when he is playful with others and his toys but overall has a calm and quiet demeanor.  Chewie only barks to alert someone’s presence outside or if he wants to play. He is also kennel or crate trained. Chewie is an overall incredible family dog that would love to be a part of a houseful of children or a smaller family and able to receive all of the attention!  We transport to the northeast almost every weekend.  He is available to travel northward.
