THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.
T'Pau, White/Calico, 3 1/2, female, spayed, Maine Coon Mix, medium-coat
T'Pau is a fabulous cat and a wonderful example of a Maine Coon mix. Aside from her gorgeous green - orange eyes, striking coat, and poofy tail, by day T'Pau is a professional feather and string hunter - lively and playful - and by night a calm snuggler willing to sleep by your pillow for most of the night. Like her science fiction namesake (a Star Trek alien matriarch, in case you were wondering), T'Pau isn't shy about telling you when she wants play or attention. She will give a sweet (but insistent) meow or avidly chirp to warn you that birds are nearby. Although not a lap cat, T'Pau loves snuggling, especially at night when she's finished her playtime. She loves to be brushed and travels very well (she flew with me once on a trip and did great). T'Pau has excellent litter box habits.
She would be happiest as an only cat so she can have her human(s) all to herself. She tolerates my laid-back, non-assertive cat, but does not do well with assertive/alpha type cats and will become very frightened and unhappy. (I'd hoped to keep T'Pau permanently, but after two years of trying had to accept T'Pau and my assertive other cat just weren't co-existing well).
T'Pau has not been near dogs so I cannot say for sure; I suspect a very calm, quiet dog (like a non-assertive cat) would be fine after adjustment. I would not recommend a high-energy or aggressive dog. I think she'd be fine with children (like any cat, I'd just recommend the kids were supervised as T'Pau is still in her playful stage). T'Pau is 3 1/2, spayed, and in great health. She's up to date with shots and has a minor dental cleaning scheduled that will be completed on Feb 9th. She's on the medium/large side of Maine Coons at 12lbs, a weight my vet thinks is good for her. T'Pau seems to do best coat and weight wise on a grain free all wet-food diet. She isn't a picky eater, though, and could easily transition to other food types. She enjoys her cat bed and any floor or medium height lounging spot, and absolutely loves her vertical sisal scratching post and feather toys. T'Pau is quite intelligent and enjoys (on her own terms) learning agility tricks, like walking and jumping through obstacle courses.
