Adopt a Great Dane (short coat)
Cupcake the Dog needs a home
Meet Cupcake! If you are looking for something sweet and packed with energy, try a cupcake. If you are looking for a Great Dane that is sweet and packed with energy, try Cupcake! This 2-3 year old female came to Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love (GDFRL) after being picked up as a stray and unclaimed at the shelter, where she loved to hang out in the adoption/rescue coordinator’s office.
Cupcake is a little timid in making new friends, but really loves attention from those with whom she is familiar and bonds very closely to her human. She is very playful, knows “Sit”, “Down”, “Stay” (not her favorite expression), and is wonderfully crate-trained. She loves to explore – counters, bags, the neighborhood – but also loves to hang out with her human and work for treats. She may be a little too energetic for a household with small children, though I am sure she would be a devoted protector of her little humans.
She has not been tested with cats, but seems to want to play with almost any other dog. She has become familiar with and comfortable at her foster home to the point that she will bark when there is noise at the door…though she may have learned part of this from her foster brother and sister! She needs some additional leash work – she is easily distracted and can be reactive (in a protective kind of way) to unfamiliar people.
Cupcake appears to have had at least one litter of puppies, but that cannot happen again – she has been spayed, tested heartworm negative, and is up to date on all her vaccinations. She is back to a healthy weight and is ready to find someone that can love her forever. If you think this could be you, contact GDFRL today! This one will not be available long.
