Adopting A Shelter Dog

These dogs come without background histories/ past medical information. We present these dogs as we have observed in relationship to age, size, breed, behavior, housebreaking, crate training, good with children, cats, dogs, and strangers. Dogs may present themselves differently in different environments, therefore The Dog Spot Rescue, their agents, volunteers, can not guarantee behavior, age, size expectations, breed, house Training, destructive behavior tendencies, and/or medical issues. All dogs from shelters have been subjected to pathogens from the shelter level which can materialize into disease in the future.  Each adopter must observe for themselves pre-adoption and make decisions for themselves the suitability of said dog and their tolerance levels for transitional time when adopting a shelter dog.  We ask that each adopter take their time when making the choice to bring home a rescued dog.

Mexican Street Dog saved from Death
Rebecca came from Mexico and was a street dog all of her life. Hit by a car, her pelvis fractured, she was heading for death when she was saved by a rescue angel and sent to our program. She was a rack of ribs, dull coat, sad dog.  We picked her up, mended her and gave her all of her medical services, nutrition and TLC and we just love her to pieces. She is kind, gentle, very loving, enjoys playing with other dogs and does the "zoomies" when rough housing with another dog. Rebeca has adjusted to home life perfectly. Housebroken, crate trained, well mannered, well behaved. Can be a bit strong on the leash but we are working on that. LOVES walks, adventures or just hanging out by your feet in the house. Rebecca is great with kids, has ignored our cats, can be left inside while we are gone without worry. Is not a big barker but would let you know when something goes bump in the night. DNA will show she is a little hound, little lab, little pitty person. She has no mean bones and has been a perfect guest. She has welcomed all guests, volunteers, vets with a wag and a grin. She is shiny, soft, well muscled and fleshed out and healthy. She deserves the first family of her life and we have paws crossed that her big brown eyes melts someones heart and they will offer her a home in time for her first Xmas as a owned dog. Rebecca has a little get to her getalong from being hit by a car but it does not slow her down one little bit.  She is as spry as they come and keeps up with our young dogs easily.
Rebecca is waiting for you. Adoption is $300.00 and pays for her spay, shots, rabies, heartworm test, de worming treatment, flea medication applied for the month and a chip. She still has her Mexican passport.
If interested in Rebecca, please fill out an on line form at: thedogspot.rescuegroups.org and then contact us by e-mail at: [email protected] for a meet and greet appointment.
Gracias!

Your Adoption Fee covers the following expenses: Spay/Neuter, DHLPP, Bordatella, Rabies (if age appropriate), De-worming and Frontline/Advantage

Please Note: Shelter/rescue dogs have been exposed to many pathogens such as kennel cough, parasites, diseases and conditions some of which may not have been discovered prior to adoption. Any dog that shows symptoms here at TDS are routinely identified, taken for tests and treatment. Our vet bills can exceed $10,000 a month. However, without symptoms, we may miss a disease, or pre-existing condition or parasite. Consider carefully if you have the tolerance for these possibilities. We consider, you, the adopters, the last leg of the rescue process.
