Cadie the Dog needs a home
Hi, my name's Cadie, I'm an intelligent, independent gal that prefers making my own decisions in life. However, whether I think I do or not, I really need someone in my life that will help me develop into that well-mannered young lady that I'm longing to be. I'm now in a foster home, and showing in a more natural environment, that I'm eager to listen and love to stick close by to see what you are doing. I have to say, initially when i'm in a new place, I can be a pretty busy kid. First, I've got to check out what's happening around the house, and see if any of the closets or cupboards need looking into. Then I got to see what's happening outside since that's where I seem to like to be the most. Then there is play time with all my favorite toys which I love to toss around and entertain myself with. Then finally after I've worn myself out, I can fit a little socializing into my schedule. I'm definitely not an overly affectionate cuddly me type of dog, but I do enjoy the company of men, women, and children. Though when it comes to children I would definitely do better in a home that had older children. Due to the stress in a shelter environment, I was having a hard time feeling comfortable in the office and would try to dart out of the door on many occasions. There is just so much noise and different smells in a place like that, that I got overstimulated. In my foster home, I really like to stick close to my foster mom and only want to go outside if she goes out with me. Once we are outside together, I just love to run & romp around, with toys in tow. During my behavior assessment it was discovered that I really did not like anyone to approach me while I am eating. I am currently being worked with on my food issues, and it is also something that can easily be worked with once I get home as well. I've really shown some promise that I can progress and feel more comfortable eating around others. Many times now I have been given treat puzzles in the office with people walking around and I have not reacted badly. When I've met with other dogs in my past and also here at CHHS, I've felt frustration due to the environment and have not introduced myself well. However, I am now spending time with a foster family that has various types of dogs, and am doing pretty well with them. My foster mom says that I like to chase her outdoor cats, and probably would not behave myself in a home with indoor cats. I've only had one accident in my foster home, on the first night. Since then, I've figured out their routine and am doing very well, so it is safe to say I am easily house trained! I've been crated at night and that seems to be working out very well for me. It gives me a safe comfort zone and privacy at night so I can really relax! So if I sound like a good match for your family, then come down and visit with me today!
