Adopt a Great Pyrenees (long coat)

Great Pyrenees (long coat) Dog

Marshmallow in OH - Special Needs the Dog needs a home

Children in the home must be at least 6 years old.

Previous dog experience is required, preferably large breed.

Marshmallow may be special needs but that doesn’t stop him from being a great big love bug. He loves to make new friends wherever he goes. Marshmallow was born with a congenital defect (bilateral patella luxation) and has had multiple surgeries to try to correct the problem. Marshmallow gets along well at home but uses a wheelchair for all walks and as much as possible to keep his spine straight. He will need pain meds at times as well as wearing his leg brace to keep his leg straight. Marshmallow is friendly with kids, cats and most other dogs. But Marshmallow would prefer to be the only male dog in the house as he is king in his own mind. He is a smaller Pyr who weighs in at 70 pounds and has double dew claws. Marshmallow knows how to sit, shake, lay down and will come when breakfast or dinner is called out.

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
