Trudie the Dog needs a home
Meet Trudie! Trudie was relinquished from a local San Diego shelter where she was under socialized, but we could see she had a LOT of potential, so we agreed to find her a forever home! She is a little nervous in new situations, but in the right environment she opens up pretty quickly.
Trudie is a very smart dog and well behaved, but still needs guidance from humans especially regarding trust issues. She seems to trust women more than she does men, although she does well with men she knows. Realistically, there are certain people who she doesn't trust and takes longer to warm up to. Because of this, the ideal home is a family with no young children (although teens would be fine). Trudie needs an experienced and savvy dog owner who will work with her and understands when she feels intimidated. She seems to be the kind of dog that needs her space when she is in new situations, so it’s best to let her seek attention — she is definitely not an “in your face” kind of dog. Her adopter must be able to read her body language when going out and about because Trudie can feel intimidated if she is approached suddenly.
Once Trudie starts to feel confident and warms up to her humans, she loves to seek attention and belly rubs! Trudie enjoy being quiet in her crate and relaxing, but she is also very fond of an active life style, such as talking long walks, hiking, and going to the dog park. She does well in the car and is leash trained.
Trudie has been making excellent progress with her foster family. Here is what her foster mom has to say about Trudie: In the past few days she has started running around the yard and playing with my dogs. Trudie is still a little unsure of Charlie inside the house but she no longer lunges at him. She is eating great and has a good recall especially when I have treats! She has had a strong reaction to a few visitors, but after a few visits and a few walks, she has improved significantly. I took her to the Harvest Festival and she did better than I expected. She was confident walking around the event and even let a few men give her treats. I warned them ahead of time not to try and pet her and they didn’t push it. In just 2 weeks time I can already see a difference with her, but I know to take it slow and I’m always aware of what’s going on when we are out and about. All things considered I’d say Trudie is doing very well. She’s really no trouble at all and is fitting in to the household.
If you would like to give Trudie the love and forever home she deserves, please fill out an online adoption application right away! She would love nothing better to become part of the family. Don’t wait! Trudie is waiting for you!
