DOG'S DESCRIPTION

Gus is a big boy who gets along well with other dogs. He was adopted out as a puppy but was returned to us because owners couldn't handle his need for attention and energy levels. He was scared and timid when returned and didn't understand what he has done wrong to be dumped, but warmed up in the care of our great kennel staff. He is timid when meeting new person and gets overwhelmed with lots of change, but once he falls in love, he is great snuggler, kisser, and extremely affectionate.  We are looking for a very special home that would give Gus a second chance. He has gotten growly when freaked out at the vet with people, so for that reason, we think he would do better in a home with older children or no children. He was housebroken in his new home, and well behaved when properly exercised. This guy has his size and timidity against him, but we hope that there is someone out there for him who will see past that and give him the loving forever home he deserves.

Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.

Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
