Phoenix the Dog needs a home
Phoenix came from a shelter by the coast about a year ago. Due to him not doing well when being vaccinated he needed a rescue to secure his safety from the county shelter. We have worked with his fears, but Phoenix remains very fearful of the vet! He has to be muzzled, or he will bite out of fear. He also is not a fan of being groomed. He has very long fluffy hair, and if not groomed it can get matted. Although he does well with baths, hes not a fan of being groomed. He will need groomed a few times a year to help keep him looking his best.
When it comes to other dogs Phoenix loves to play with dogs his size! He does not do well with smaller dogs, or small animals. He will harass another dog until they give in and play with him, so if you have another playful dog they will likely be buddies! In his current foster home he lives with several other huskies and does well with them. They often play in the fenced in backyard where Phoenix enjoys playing in mud puddles, and digging holes.
Because he is a very active Siberian Husky he will need an owner to match his energy! A 6ft fenced yard at his new home is required. An owner who understands the breed is also a must, Phoenix is not a good fit for first time dog owners. A playmate in the home is a plus.
Phoenix is crate trained, and house trained (but may submissive pee if he gets scared). He does pull on leash, but walks well with an easy walk harness. He can be vocal when in the crate if he gets bored, but is usually quite throughout the night unless he needs to go potty.
Special diet is required for Phoenix. He has a chicken allergy and cannot eat any dog foods that contain chicken. He is used to a grain free, and chicken free diet.
If you have additional questions about Phoenix please reach out to his foster mom Megan at [email protected] if you are ready to apply to adopt please fill out an adoption form.
After filling out the adoption form it will be processed by the application team, and once approved the foster parent will reach out for a home visit/meet and greet to see if you might be a good fit. Adoption fee is $225.
