Daisy Lou is a spayed, 2-3 year-old American Labrador-German Shepherd mix, on the small side for her breed, with a people-pleasing personality. She is highly food-motivated and very intelligent. This, along with her desire for attention, has made her quite easy to train. She is completely housebroken and crate-trained. As a rescue from the Martinez shelter, we know very little of her early history except that she had puppies at a young age, which may account for her mistrust of other dogs. She is very loyal and loving toward our family and has never shown aggression toward us in any fashion. We have two cats whom she adores, but is very fearful of other dogs and will attack them if not properly restrained. She is frightened by loud noises or quickly moving objects such as bicycles, joggers, and motorcycles. She is wonderful with our children and their friends, who enjoy feeding her treats and having her do tricks. She has as “soft mouth” and has always taken food gently. On a final note, which is a plus, she is not destructive. She will not chew pillows, furniture, or anything that is not “hers”. She does not go in the kitchen trash, either. She does tend to steal shoes for snuggling when we’re not home, or at night, but she does not chew them. It’s more of a comfort thing for her. We find it adorable, to be honest.
