Bridget the Dog needs a home

Hi! My name is Bridget, and I'm a dog fostered in El Paso, TX!

I came to From The Heart after a kind lady picked me up. I was in the middle of the highway about an hour from the nearest town! From The Heart doesn't know how long I was out there, but it was clear I'd been dumped and had been out there for quite some time. I was pretty emaciated. I weighed only about 15 pounds! Needless to say, I was VERY grateful someone stopped and picked me up!


After From The Heart picked me up, we discovered that I had anaplasmosis AND erlichia! Both are bloodborne diseases passed on to animals like me by ticks. Because I had been out in the desert so long, these diseases really affected me. My blood cell count should have been around 400, and mine was at 8!! Reason says I should have been dead long ago, but I'm a fighter! Heck, no one even knew I was sick for a long time because I was so playful and happy! Nothing keeps me down! I had to go to the vet for a blood transfusion to save my life. I really felt better after that! From The Heart gave me the care I needed and now my blood diseases are all gone!


I'm very playful, and i'm a very happy puppy! I'm around 9-months-old and I love having fun and playing with other dogs.
