Sonny the Dog needs a home
**Sonny is being fostered in the Pennington, NJ area. He is with 3 other dogs and has fit right in. He is housetrained and is just a sweet gentleman!*
Sonny and another older Beagle, Pops, were found wandering on the property of a Glenwood family. Both were very thin, scared and in need of immediate medical care. After an exhausted search for their owner yielded no positive results, both were taken into our rescue.
We soon found out that both were also highly infected with heart worms. Unfortunately, Pops was so badly infected that he succumbed to them and passed away shortly after arriving at our rescue. We immediately started making plans to have Sonny treated and he did complete his heart worm treatments in Jan, 2018.
While Sonny is very friendly towards people he is a little hesitant towards them at first but opens up to them once he gets comfortable around them. His demeanor suggest that in his former home he may not have received much human interaction and most likely limited as just a "hunting dog". But since coming to our rescue, Sonny is starting to enjoy the other benefits of being a dog. He walks great on a leash, gets along great with other friendly dogs and hasn't shown any aggressive nature at all. Sonny loves to "track" and would probably still enjoy the occasional romp through the woods to "hunt".
We're not positive of Sonny's age but have estimated him to be about 5 years old.
