Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

Kylie has stolen her foster mom's heart and we're pretty sure she will steal yours too. She's described as "obedient, loving, gentle, smart and a great companion with drive to learn new things. She sounds wonderful doesn't she? Kylie knows lots of commands and gently takes treats when they are offered. Oh and lest we not forget this important fact, she is fully house-trained! She has been given free roam at her foster home and when they are away she naps on the sofa building up her energy for that playtime when they return. This girl wants to have fun too. She loves tennis ball fetch and she brings the ball back over and over and even drops it for you to toss again. She doesn't discriminate against other toys and will bring her whole toy box over and dump it so she can find her very favorite for that moment. Though she is active and playful, she also loves belly rubs and cuddles and is very calm when its time for the love part of the day. She's a great sized, not too big and not too small...she's just right! Kylie also enjoys learning new things and is in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Kylie has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! She is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," as well as 'place' (running-to and staying-in a designated spot) and coming when called. Once Kylie successfully completes all the skills on her training plan she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Kylie is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Kylie after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together.
