Adopt a Pomeranian (medium coat)

Stewie is a super easy going, quiet, senior (approx. 11 years), male neutered 12 lb Pomeranian.  He is deaf and rarely barks unless he needs to tell another dog they are in his direct close space or he is surprised.  He is fine with cats and gets along well with dogs as long as other dogs don't try to push him around.  If he's not comfortable he will growl to remind others to respect their elders.  He can also be protective of his food around other dogs, but he will let them know this by growling before exhibiting any other reaction.   Only on one occasion did he tell a human to back off.  It has taken some time for his personality to shine through as he is so subtle in displaying it.  He will actually smile now and come for attention.  On occasion Stewie may even give a muzzle bump against your leg or jump up on a chair to point out he wants some loving.  He does get some pep in his step and kick up his heels to do a senior jig when we are off for a car ride, walk or other exciting thing.  Dinner time is what makes him THE most happy! 

(He may need his waistline watched as he blooms into his new life as he has already gained 2 lbs!)  

He first arrived with a very bad skin infection with hair loss.  Poor  guy was so itchy and  had scratched himself raw.    With wonderful care from Dr. Waisglass, (a well-known veterinary Dermatology Specialist), lots of TLC, skin care medications and frequent bathing, he has totally grown back his luxurious fur coat and only occasionally suffers from a mild itch which typically improves after a bath.   It is unknown if/or when he may have a recurrence of his skin condition at this time.  Stewie has had his teeth professionally scaled and polished (and yes did have to have a few teeth removed), but he is happily eating both dry &/or wet food at this time.  Stewie is one smart cookie, and has mastered the "food treat ball".  Nothing makes him happier than pawing it around and winning the snack of the kibble that fall out of it.  The food ball is an amazing toy that provides entertainment, exercise and food all in one!  

He is housetrained and when outside he will lift his leg so high when peeing that he almost tips over.  Initially some training to get him on a schedule was required to correct his indoor marking behaviour, but that alone has virtually resolved any indoor accidents.  Getting Stewie on a schedule will be very important when he first enters his new forever home.  He will need to be closely monitored and offered frequent visits outside until he adjusts to his new routine.  Stewie is very versatile senior dog who does enjoy sitting beside you on your lap, but he is also quite content to curl up on a comfy dog bed on the floor.  Stewie truly is a very easy going and sweet Pomeranian.  He does definitely also exhibit those common Pom habits such as digging and circling to make his bed before lying down, rolling on his back in the grass and kicking up the turf after going to the bathroom.  Stewie is a true sweetheart that deserves a loving retirement forever home.
