Hi, I’m Alvin, a sweet older guy who loves being outside, chasing my foster brothers around the yard, and a soft cozy dog bed. I am independent and a bit shy, but warm up after some time and plenty of ear rubs.




I will definitely let you know when I need to go outside and need to live in a home with a fenced in yard. I will hang outside for as long as you will let me. It is probably best to crate me during the day when you are gone. At night I am ok to be out and having really started to enjoy sleeping on the couch. If you need to crate me at night, I will settle down after a few minutes.




I am still a little skinny, but I am eating extra kibble and have been gaining weight. I have a strong bark, but really only use it when I know it is time to eat or I hear you come home.




I would be a great dog for someone who wants an independent friend who doesn’t need constant attention.  Alvin is located near Des Moines, IA.
