Adopt a Hound / Mixed

Hound / Mixed Dog

Pixie D3886 the Dog needs a home

Pixie LOVES having fun.  She will do much better in a stimulating environment.  Whether it is with people or other dogs, she is the Energizer Bunny squared.  That little wiggly body and sweet face will quickly charm you.  Pixie is very smart and with more focused training will become a great dog.  She is highly play and fun motivated.  Using that as the ‘carrot’ will get her to do just about anything.

Built low to the ground, Pixie will find all the small spaces; doors ajar, under fences, behind her crate.  She will test you with a challenging game of hide and seek but it’s all in fun.  When left to her own devices, a ‘bored’ Pixie pup will find things to entertain herself.  This has been in the form of chewing on things left close-by.  A busy, tired Pixie is a great Pixie.   Just having company keeps her little soul busy.  She loves her people and with introductions, she loves being in the middle and making an impact.  Not one to need the spotlight, Pixie will sometimes just pick a spot in the yard and ‘supervise’ play.  Then, when it’s least expected, she will pop up and take on the biggest pooch in the pack.  She fears nothing.

Do not be fooled by that little frame, Pixie is a mighty piker.  Her spirit alone will move mountains; there is always a way and she WILL find it.  But harness that energy and this is the perfect dog for someone loving, patient and active.  She will curl up at the window and watch for hours, even when there’s not much to see.  When the day is done, Pix finds her spot and settles in for some cuddles and rest.   And it starts all over again…

Pixie is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, and she is currently being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, Pixie will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on her commands with her handlers. Please contact us to find out more about Pixie. Meet and greets can be arranged with a Wags & Whiskers volunteer in the prison lobby, adoption event, or other locations for an approved applicant.

Interested in adopting this lovable animal?
