She's been with the rescue for a while now! Gracie is a 2-3 year old female Dutch Shepherd. We rescued Gracie from a kill shelter the day she was to be euthanized. Boy does she have a story to tell...

Gracie came into a GA kill shelter as a stray and was adopted by a senior lady. The lady felt Gracie needed more exercise than she could give her and took her back to the shelter. So this time she was technically an owner surrender and was given limited time. The day she was to be euthanized we came to her rescue.

That's when we got to know Gracie and the first thing we learned is she needs a securely fenced in yard that's at least 6' or someone committed to exercising her on lead because this gal is an escape artist. Gracie would like a home with other dogs but not overly rough or dominant dogs. She likes confident, yet gentle companions as they teach her security. Gracie does great with children but does not like loud noises so older children would be best. She is scared of fireworks and thunder and looks to her humans for security.

Gracie is an attention Hound and seeks out human love and affection. She is crate trained and potty trained and does best on a scheduled routine. Gracie has an enormous prey drive so no small animals please. Gracie is in foster care in MD and anyone wishing to meet or adopt her should be willing to do so in MD.

We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home.
