From the Foster:
Hi, my name is Layla. I was in a home for a long long time, but then all of a sudden they're gone! I really miss the love, comfort, security, and fun of having a family to call my own, so I am ready to move on to my real forever family now! Since arriving at Secondhand Hounds (10/1/17), one of my favorite things to do is nap with my foster mom! If she lets me, I hop up on the couch and sleep right by her. If I'm not allowed up, no big deal, I just sleep on a blanket on the floor right by her.
Sometimes, if I'm really lucky, foster mom lets me snuggle with her and my foster fur brother in the morning!
I also like going for walks! Sometimes I forget my leash skills and pull just a little bit, but my foster mom helps me remember to walk nicely. I'm getting the hang out it real fast! I know to wait to go potty until my walks too.
So whatever "potty trained" means... I'm that!
I get along with other dogs usually, but do need a proper introduction to new friends. I've also been having fun with my foster fur brother. He's a 3.5 yr old male pit mix, and we like to chase each other around and take turns bowing into the play stance along with napping.
Lots of napping!
When we aren't playing, I find a nice comfy spot to relax that's near my foster parents. If they leave the room, I follow and find a comfy spot in the next room they go to.
Until I get the daily routine down, I've been kenneled during the day while my foster parents are at work. So far, I am not a big fan of it.
I haven't been in a kennel since I was a puppy, so I'm just figuring things out is all. I go into my kennel with no problem. I just don't like being away from everyone. I just love everyone so much!
My foster mom has been very helpful though, and I think we are coming up with a good plan for me to succeed. Speaking of success... I know how to sit, shake, high five, come,
respond to my name
, and lie down on command! I'm so smart! I've also quickly gotten the hang of waiting to go out an open door until I'm allowed to. I can't wait to show off my smarts to my forever family!
I really can't wait to settle in to my forever family's life and give them all my love! Will you be my real forever family? I hope to meet you!
