Danali is a very special little girl. Danali came to Austin Pets Alive! as a 4 month old puppy. Danali was found pulling herself down a busy road by a good Samaritan. The good Samaritan took her to the Austin Animal Center where she was seen by their vets immediately. Radiographs were taken which showed a pellet in her spinal cord at her T-11. A surgery was attempted to remove the pellet but the damage to the spine was already done and the risk for infection was not warranted since the spinal damage was permanent. She is currently unable to move her back legs due to the pellet lodged in her back and is also incontinent due to the paralysis in the back legs. Despite this, she has an amazing spirit and makes everyone around her smile when they meet her. Danali has learned to walk with a wheelchair and gets to sport the cutest diapers ever when out in public. Danali is very independent. She is able to army crawl her way out of the doggy door in her foster home. She needs to be with other dog-social dogs as they encourage her to use her front legs for play and also help stimulate her. Danali sleeps in an x-pen over night, is very dog and kitten social, is used to being carried everywhere she goes, and has never met a stranger she doesn't love. She often makes people swoon to her and when she encounters a group of people she requires that each member of the group, 2 and 4 legged, say hello to her. This cutie has completed water therapy and attends playgoup at the shelter when she comes to work with her foster mom. When she is tired she quickly puts herself to sleep in her bed in the office or in her x-pen at home.
