Adopt a Beagle (short coat)
Dave the Dog needs a home
NAME: Dave
BREED: Beagle
BIRTHDAY: 2010
WEIGHT: 25lbs
ADOPTION FEE: $150
Dave came to us from a crowded shelter after being found as a stray. He is completely blind; his condition is called SARDS (sudden acquired retinal degeneration), which is not painful and does not affect other areas of his overall health. Dave is a brave boy who adjusted well to life in his foster home. He has a lot of energy and loves to explore inside and out. He is great with other dogs but may be too much for cats who aren't dog-savvy. Dave loves getting attention from everyone he meets; despite being blind he is very confident and is friendly with all people. He even likes to rough-house and wrestles with his foster mom and dog brothers.
Dave was recently diagnosed with a congenital defect to his trachea. He has a mild cough that is easily managed with medication every few days. Dave is a real chow hound so he takes his pills eagerly with canned food or pill pockets. Or a hot dog. Or cheese. Or mashed potatoes. Dave loves food.
All Dave needs to be happy and feel safe is a little time to adjust and patience while he navigates his surroundings. He is house and crate trained, walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, and is always up for an adventure. This little fellow is going to make a sweet and fun addition to his new family!
?
For his safety and your sanity, Dave will require a fenced yard. Please research beagles before applying for Dave- his noise and energy levels are very typical of his breed!
