Jack the Dog needs a home
Hi, Jack here! Still single and looking - for a forever home, that is!
Just wanted to update you on all the learning going on around here. I’ve learned my basic commands and have been really, really good in the house. I try very hard to remember not to jump on my favorite people when they come home, and every day I get better at walking on a leash.
But my foster family is also learning some tricks. You know, all those wacky and wild LAB tricks that have made my kind the most popular breed in the country. Just in case you’re not familiar with Labradors’ standard equipment, here’s a sampling:
The Toe Toaster: this one is generally well received. I just lay on the feet of my person if she stands still for more than 1 second. Watch for opportunities like when they’re working in the kitchen or brushing teeth in the bathroom.
The Texas Toe Step: not generally as well received as the Toaster. This one involves accidentally stepping on human feet whenever possible. I swear, it’s an accident - That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
The Lab Lean: widely known and loved. The point is just to apply firm, steady pressure against your human in any possible position. A great way to say ‘I love you’ and will almost always earn you an ear rub.
The Goose: you can probably guess what this involves and I’m not proud. But I like big butts and I cannot lie. Moving on….
The Pony Ride: this one is best when sprung suddenly on the person as they walk in front of you. Simply dart between their legs and give them a bit of a ride! Guaranteed fun!
The Lotion Lick: try at your own risk because this move may trigger an involuntary swat and shriek. When the human exits the shower still dewy fresh, or immediately after they apply lotion to bare legs, apply a long lick up the length of the exposed leg. Then assume the ‘what, me?’ face of innocence.
The Fridge Blocker: a Labrador favorite and easy to execute. Simply lay on the floor in front of the refrigerator and refuse to move unless tempted away with a tasty treat.
There you have it!
