Adopt a Husky / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)
Abby the Dog needs a home
Abby was rescued from a home with 10 other dogs and an owner who was overwhelmed. The owner started with a few dogs, but did not spay and neuter his pets, so a few turned into many. Worthy Dog rescued 2 other dogs from this home, and are working with the owner to get more of his dogs altered and rehomed. He’s receptive and has learned from this experience. With so many dogs, they were mostly kept outside with limited access to the basement so they could come in out of the elements, but have never been integrated into their home.
Abby is still a young pup/adolescent with her whole life ahead of her. She is now living in a proper foster home with two dedicated foster parents, and two large playful dogs to romp around with and show her the way. There’s also a kitty in the home, Zip, but she has not met her yet….updates to come. Abby really enjoys other dogs and wants to play, but also stays right next to her human and craves love and affection. She’s crate trained, potty trained, and is learning to be calm in the house, and to know the difference between inside and outside toys. She’s had no destructive chewing issues, and understands to focus on toy and bones vs. shoes and pillows. Her favorite spot is on the couch laying up against her foster mom.
More to come about Abby as she settles in. She will be coming to N. VA on 2/17
FOSTER UPDATE - 2/10/18
Abby met the grandkids (6 & 9 years old) this weekend and did great with both. She was also cat-tested with the foster's cat, Zip, and just wanted to sniff and lick - no chasing or excitement She will still need a gradual introduction to kitties in her home, but has a very calm, accepting temperament around them.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
