Standard Adoption Fee Adult Dog: $250 ea.  Puppy Adoption Fee: $300 ea. Reduced rates for Seniors dogs (10 and up).  Reduced rates for pairs (when adopted together).

Paloma is a young, bouncy, energetic, deaf girl who needs a family to call her own. She loves to play tug-of-war and run around with doggie friends and people. She is very smart and her trainers are working hard at teaching her hand signals and basic household manners. Because she is so athletic she can jump up on the dining room table and steal your dinner before you blink an eye. 



Paloma is mostly housebroken if you remind her to go outside, otherwise, she will take advantage of peeing on a soft spot like a rug. Continuing to work on housetraining by taking her out often and rewarding her with treats or play will be important for her continued success. 



Although Paloma does not let her deafness slow her down, she does have severe separation anxiety. She cannot be locked in a crate and we are working on her separation anxiety. As of now, the longest we have been able to leave her alone is about an hour without her starting to pace and become upset. She loves car rides and greeting other people and dogs, so she would be wonderful as someone's constant companion. She adores children and has not yet met anyone, dog or human, who she doesn't get along with. The best home for her is someone who works from home, has children and other playful dog(s) she can learn and take her cues from.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!
