Adopt a Tabby / Mixed (medium coat)
Mouse and Squirrel the Cat needs a home
Mouse (center; ~2-year-old female gray tabby DMH) and Squirrel (right; ~2-year-old male tabby Maine Coon mix) – collectively known as “the Fluffs” – are a very sweet and special bonded pair of kitties who are looking for their forever home together. These beauties are shy of new people and environments and do not handle transitions well, so they will require an experienced and patient adopter who is willing to give them the time and space they need to acclimate to their new home, but they are worth it! Once they are used to you, all they want to do is curl up on the bed with you and snuggle. They also both love getting belly-rubs!
Mouse started her life as a stray living outside of a restaurant in Tucker, flirting with patrons in exchange for leftover chicken. She was trapped and relocated to her now-foster parents’ yard, and Squirrel showed up as soon as she entered the scene. They have been inseparable ever since! The Fluffs lived as outside cats for about 9 months, growing steadily more and more social and friendly until it was finally determined that they were ready for a life indoors. Both cats have done very well inside – they get along great with the other animals (both dogs and cats) and are very friendly with all of the humans who live in the house as well, although they tend to hide from visitors. They have never had an accident outside of their litter boxes, and do not try to scratch at the furniture.
Mouse is a bit of a diva and is very particular about being held – if she feels cornered, trapped, or vulnerable, she becomes a bit fractious and will hiss or swipe. For this reason, a home with young children is not recommended. However, she generally enjoys being picked up for brief intervals to be loved on or placed on a lap. Mouse has a harder time adjusting to new environments than Squirrel and will identify a “comfort zone” that she will stay in, venturing out very gradually as she feels more at ease. She is also usually more demanding of attention than Squirrel – she will rub on your legs and swat at them as you walk away if she is not done being petted. She loves making biscuits and chasing toes or fingers under the blanket.
Squirrel is a very mellow cat and will tolerate just about anything, even if it makes him uncomfortable. He does not fully understand personal space and will sleep practically on top of your face if you let him. He has also been known to chew on the hair of his sleeping foster parents. Squirrel is also the type of cat to position himself directly on top of your keyboard, thinking that will somehow get him some extra pets. Whereas Mouse is playful and flirty, Squirrel has the personality of a lazy dog who just wants to lounge near you all day long, belly-side-up.
Both Fluffs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, FIV/Felv negative, and in excellent overall health PLEASE SHARE these sweeties for adoption!
