Additional Information: Playful and friendly Wilkes was inexplicably stood up at the altar when the family who said they would adopt him in West Virginia never showed up to retrieve him. It's impossible to imagine why when he's such a treat!

With typical kitten energy, Wilkes' favorite things to do are play and get his belly rubbed. He loves toys like the Cat Dancer, feathers and birds on a stick in particular. He takes a little time getting to know you before he opens up, but once he does, he likes to choose the times he will be petted; he particularly likes to seek people out when he senses they're about to leave, at which point he becomes very affectionate. Wilkes prefers to have his chin scratched and tummy rubbed and has a very cute habit of rolling on his back while being pet. He likes to play peekaboo sometimes by running away from you and then peering out from behind couches and doors. When he's hungry he'll let you know by meowing, and has a number of different favorite treats.

In short, Wilkes would be a great addition to any family and deserves a human companion that will follow through on providing him with a forever home!

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our animals (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Our cat adoption fee is $150 unless noted. Prior to arrival, all of our cats are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, FVRCP, and Feline leukemia. They are microchipped and tested for FIV and FeLV. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.

We do our best to disclose all health records and known health conditions to adopters. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations and health tests, but does not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR & CK.  City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
