Daphne the Dog needs a home

Daphne is a nuzzler! This sweetheart loves to rub her head or nose against you and will not say no to a good butt scratch! Daphne ponders life as she ambles along next to you on a walk at a medium clip, thinking of tasty treats or curling up in her very own cozy bed. She is not overly interested in toys, but that doesn't mean she can't be a silly girl, rolling around on her back in the grass making snorting noises or trying to play detective by sniffing interesting things out on a walk. She has adorable ears that perk up as she notices things in her surroundings, and her smile truly lights up her lovely face when she is happy! Daphne is a mature, medium energy lady who has probably seen her share of life's harder edges and would truly appreciate the chance to thrive in a loving home where she can relax and enjoy the finer things in life. She has recently gone on some field trips and sleepovers with volunteers, and has enjoyed exploring more of the world. Daphne is a rockstar in the car, calm as can be, she just loves looking out the window. She greets strangers with a calm and respectful manner and loves getting treats, which she takes very gently. During an extended sleepover, Daphne played and slept with 10 year old and 6 year old and she was very loving and sweet. Calm and low key in the home, she is house-trained and easy to leave alone. Until she finds her family, she is keeping busy in APA's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week toward the goal of passing the American Kennel Club's CGC test! Daphne has been working hard to be a dog you can take anywhere with pride. To pass the CGC test, a dog must demonstrate obedience and general reliability in real world situations. Dogs in APA's CGC program learn to sit and down, walk nicely on leash, sit calmly when approached by strangers or another dog, won't approach people or dogs without permission, greet people appropriately, stay in a sit or down until told "free," and come when called. As part of APA's CGC program you can work with APA to continue to build a training relationship with Daphne after adoption and get officially CGC certified for free! Check out a video about CGC: https://vimeo.com/89434193 If you're looking for an easy going, affectionate, and mellow dog, Daphne definitely wants to meet you!
