Ginger the Dog needs a home
Ginger first arrived at MARS in 2013.
Ginger has come back to MARS and is looking for a home with no kids or older kids that can respect her space and not scare her.
Ginger is shy initially. She gets along great with other dogs and tends to be submissive. She's very curious about cats, but once my cat hissed at her, she backed off and acts like the cat isn't even there (except occasionally goes back to see if the cat will be friendly).
Ginger is energetic and loves to run; could use a daily walk or run in a fenced area. She actually loves to be held, but you would think she doesn't because when you go to pick her up, she kicks her back feet out. But once she's in your arms, she just sits there and loves it. She is just a big snuggle bunny, very loving and smart.
Ginger will stand on her back legs and hold out her arms to you. And, when you are petting her, she likes to wrap her front feet around your arm. So, so loving!
Ginger is housebroken, but she will go on a pee pad if one is laid out. She does like her toys and plays with them mostly on her own. She doesn't chase a ball or "retrieve" but I've caught her playing with several toys I've given her. She's also not a big "chewer", I've tried several different bones and she's not that interested in them.
Ginger doesn't really bark much, but she has on occasion barked when she hears something outside. Ginger is crate trained and will go in on her own. A lot of times I find her in her crate laying down, so I think she really likes the security of the crate.
Can you give her a safe place to start her new life?
