Adopt a Bulldog / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)
Tulip the Dog needs a home
Ready to Apply?
You will want to have your veterinary and/or personal reference information handy, as well as landlord information if you are a renter, to fill out the application completely.
• We will not pursue an incomplete application
• Once complete, you can speed up process by contacting your vet's office and giving them permission to release information. We may dismiss the application if this is not completed.
• Volunteers handle dozens of applications at a time so we do not guarantee contact with everyone. We try our best, but we are working around jobs, kids, and of course, dogs.
•Adoptions generally take longer than 4 days to process but there is no set time frame. We do the best we can as a non-profit, so please be patient.
Tulip was rescued from a puppy mill auction in October 2010 when our rescue headed an effort to save over 60 dogs from being cycled back into breeding operations after one of the largest mills in Missouri was shut down. Normally, we don't believe in "paying" for our rescue dogs, but in this case, none of the money went back to the mill, it was paid to the government as a fine for their activities.
Tulip was only 6wks old when we took her from the mill, so she didn't have any of the typical mill issues. My husband begged to keep her and I caved. When we split up, he took her with him and during that time Tulip developed a dislike for their female dog and became a bit less friendly with strange dogs.
My husband passed away a few weeks ago, and of course we wanted to get Tulip back to a familiar family; however we have 5 dogs. It would be incredibly unfair for Tulip to live the last part of her life in a crate and rotate situation.
Tulip is spayed, I believe she is up to date on vaccines but will redo them if we don't find her updated records.
Tulip is seeking a home with no other dogs or cats. She is crate trained. She is 7 years old so although we hope she has a lot more good years in her, the person wishing to adopt will want to be fully prepared to take on a dog that will be considered a "senior" in a few years and will require a senior blood panel annually to ensure she stays healthy, is on good quality food, and receives any care recommended by the veterinarian. Because she is a bulldog mix, her dental work may be required in the next few years as well.
Tulips adoption fee is $100 + a $50 training deposit refunded to you upon completion of training with a professional positive trainer
