Hi! I'm Rupert!

Approximate Age:  5-6 yrs

Approximate Weight:  35 lbs

Currently Living at:  Loving foster home with other dogs

Adoption Fee:  $300

DOG'S DESCRIPTION

Poor Rupert was abandoned at the shelter. It must have been really terrifying for him. He used to be a very very shy guy, but thanks to his loving foster home, he has really come out of his shell. He has gained a lot of confidence, but he does still need time to warm up to new people. Once he warms up, his foster says he is a complete snuggle bug. He enjoys affection, and also loves toys and bones. He is a lower energy, laid back, fairly quiet dude. This adorable little guy gets along with everyone: dogs, adults, and children. It seems that Rupert sustained some sort of spinal injury prior to arriving in our care. His back has healed, but he does have difficulty controlling his bladder at times. This poor baby needs a chance at some happiness. Could you be his hero?

Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.

Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.

Foster Program:  Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at [email protected].
