KONA HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING. Kona is a lovely 1 year-old Lab/Shepherd mix female who came into a county dog shelter as a stray. It’s very tough for black dogs to be noticed in shelters so they often languish there with little chance of adoption. That was Kona’s situation as she entered a shelter at the end of November and was still waiting for a second chance almost two months later. The shelter found her to be a very sweet and easy-going girl so she made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she would be able to enjoy life in a foster home as she worked on finding herself a permanent new home. Kona was a little shy in front of the camera but is very outgoing and confident when there’s no camera around! She gets along great with other dogs and is very friendly when meeting new people. Kona does pull hard on a leash so it’s likely that she hasn’t had much practice in that area. As she works on her leash manners, it would be very helpful to use an EZ Walk harness with her. Kona has excellent crate manners in her foster home so may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. She’s going to make a fantastic companion for the lucky person or family who has the time to devote to showing Kona how to be all the dog she can be. Kona weighs about 52 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email

if you’re interested in Kona. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
