Adopt a Boston Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

What a character Cletis is and what a story he has to tell!! Cletis was brought into the Devore Shelter along with 7 other dogs and several cats who were abandoned on a property in San Bernardino. Who knows how long they had been left to fend for themselves. We are guessing that Cletis is the father of the majority of the dogs that were found. Out of the 3 dogs that Boston Buddies took in, he was the friendliest and least scared. The other 2, who we think are his daughters we
re petrified of people but are slowly warming up to the "family life". Now that Cletis is in his foster home, he does not like his humans to be out of his sight. He follows his foster Dad from room to room to make sure he isn't going to disappear like his former owner did. Cletis loves to snuggle with his furry foster siblings (sometimes a bit too close as he will lay right on top of them and not all dogs welcome that kind of bonding). It doesn't appear that Cletis had any "schooling" so his foster family is working on potty training along with basic commands like sit and stay. It was obvious from day 1 that he had never been on a leash walk. When his foster Mom put on his harness he just froze. Little by little he is getting the hang of things but it will take time and patience. Cletis had probably never been to a vet, his ears are tattered, his skin is pink and his fur is patchy. His one eye suffered some type of past trauma so not much vision left in it but the ophthalmologist said it isn't causing him any pain. We are administering lubricating drops to keep him comfortable. All of this probably sounds pretty "negative" but please don't think for a minute that Cletis isn't a happy guy - because he is. He loves any attention you want to give him, loves to eat and loves to sleep in the bed tucked in under the covers, really, really close to his foster Mom. Guess he is trying to make up for all the loving he missed out on. Cletis is estimated at 11 years old, weighing in at 14 pounds, he is neutered, microchipped, heartworm and fecal tested (both negative), had a complete dental and is up to date on all vaccines.
