Meet Simple-hearted Wesley

Over radio, I often heard dogs were found on a freeway. I couldn’t imagine that one day I came across Wesley.

I was about to get off an interchange, a dog popped out from nowhere causing many drivers panicking with sharp break. Obviously Wesley was scared by the annoying break and horn noise, trapped in traffic. With anxiety, he ran across the traffic to a space of the shoulder, freeze and trembling. I must admit for a minute that I just wanted to get out of the traffic and went home. But when I looked at the side mirror, I saw his hopeless eyes full with fear. It made me stop the car. I carefully walked toward to Wesley. He must be too scared to move. I crouched down to pet him, to let him know I came to help. He seemed to know my intension and followed me without any doubt. Well, this was how I met Wesley. Not just noticed him over the SOS radio but actually on site.

I took Wesley home, found out he was quite friendly. After giving him a good bath, we both went to an animal hospital to find out if he’s microchipped. Not surprisingly, he was not chipped. Based on his friendly behavior, he must have a home but for some reason to be abandoned on the freeway. Luckily he didn’t go far and smart enough to find an interchange to get off. Otherwise, who knew what was going to happen to him. After giving Wesley all necessary physical checkups, the Vet claimed he was a healthy boy. There was no reason for me to surrender such a gentle, simple-hearted big boy to a public shelter. So I decided to keep him for awhile.

Wesley gets along with my dogs. He settles in really well. He sings with my dogs when the dump truck broadcasting “Für Elise” every time it comes. Wesley trusts human very much. He loves snuggles and enjoys being a sidekick. Even meeting a stranger or child, he will firstly wagging his tail to let you know he is unharmed and lying down for belly rubbing. Wesley likes to walk out and hang around with multiple dogs. No matter they are big or small dogs, he can easily join the play. A good dog like Wesley deserves a second chance to be treasured. I’m very grateful God gave me a chance to meet Wesley. Although it’s time to let go of him for forever happiness, I’ll always remember the days we’ve been together.
