ADOPTION PENDING - Shams the Dog needs a home
Meet Shams (meaning "Sun")
Shams was living in an abandoned house, eating garbage in North Philadelphia. He was a young, skinny stray with ribs showing and hardly had any fur on his body. Three months ago, a kind woman who cares for a stray cat colony in the area spotted him and slowly tried to earn his trust by leaving food nearby. Soon he was hanging out at her cat feeding area--waiting for her. She eventually was able to put a slip-lead around his neck and took him in.
Shams was not used to so much care and love. He is like an old soul in a young 1-year-old dog's body. He's about 45 pounds and healthy.
He walks great on a leash, and would also make a fabulous jogging partner. He has very good 'canine manners,' and will play in the tiny back yard available to him, but indoors, he is quiet, mellow and house broken. He is being fostered with several rescue cats. He is good with mellow cats. Although he has not experienced any official dog-to-dog introduction, when he sees other dogs, he simply looks at them and displays a slight wag of tail – and has not displayed any sort of dog aggression.
The kind cat colony caretaker cannot afford to care for and keep Shams, and he is so deserving of a family or owner of his own. Won't you consider adopting Shams?
