Thumper & Soot the Rabbit needs a home

The director of the Brookhaven Animal Shelter was contacted by a woman battling debilitating cancer, begging for someone to help her re-home her two rabbits, as she was sadly unable to care for them anymore. The Long Island Rabbit Rescue Group worked in cooperation with the shelter to take in Soot and Thumper. Every day, LIRRG volunteers come to visit with them checking that they have all their bunny needs met. These girls have a very strong bond and great spirits, despite living in a shelter with cats and dogs nearby. They are both spayed and ready to find their forever home together, where they can share some snuggles with their new family!


Our adoption procedure includes a phone interview, home visit, and any necessary education of potential adopters. There is an adoption fee to help defray the cost of veterinary care and spay/neuter of the bunnies we find homes for. For more information about adoptions, please email us: [email protected]
