He is going to make an awesome indoor companion. We will be doing his vaccinations this upcoming week along with a check up on his leg. Valentine was found by the Harleysville walmart off of RT 113 back in the beginning of feb. Founder had been on facebook asking for help and to see if she could find his family. Valentine had a fractured leg and was in need of vet care. I (Thea) was contacted to help this baby and we got him into For Cats Only in Quakertown, PA for a check over. He was put on pain meds while we all searched for his family on facebook. He was found with a collar so we knew he had to belong to someone. We did find who he belonged too and they decided it was best for him to be handed over and put under the cat shack full time.
For cats only checked him for FIV/FELV and he is neg, they did the xrays and then set up the surgery for his leg. They were able to neuter him while under sedation for the xrays.
Surgery went very well, he is about 2 weeks out and is beginning to put more pressure on to his back leg and use it daily.
He is getting Physical Therapy 3x a day for 6 weeks, he is still continuing pain meds but only every 12-15 hours give or when it is needed. He is on a probiotic for his loose stools which is more than likely from the different medications hes been on for the last few weeks. We are keeping him on "Cage rest" until the 6 weeks of PT is complete. He will get his staples out 3/10!! We can't wait for this.
He is currently eating ID food while having the loose stools until they become more firm. We did reduce the amt of wet food he was getting to half a can a day and it seems to be helping a lot. He does get dry food and water for whenever he likes! He absolutely LOVES to be held, cuddled and carried like a baby. He will reach his arms up to you and again--- HUGE PROGRESS ---- Uses both his back legs to reach up to us for us to pick him up! You can tell he is favoring one leg more than the other but he is without a doubt feeling so much better. He is sassy, loves to play with strings and other objects that dont cause him to run around. He loves to give kisses and does nibble but he is a kitten and he doesn't do it hard. He also doesn't have a tail this makes him a million times cuter!! We are not sure how he lost his tail or if he was born this way. We do know that his leg was more than likely fractured by a car, if you are interested in adopting Valentine PLEASE APPLY! We will be talking with potential adopters and will chose then accordingly.
We are so excited to find this boy a happy, health and safe home indoors! If you have any questions or anything please feel free to contact me through email! [email protected]
He will be vaccinated with his 1st distemper and rabies before adoption. You would then be responsible for the 2nd and 3rd distemper if they are not completed before the adoption date.
Please be within an hrs drive of allentown area! We do home visits!
